Description
Gefen pearl barley is barley that has been processed in order to remove its hull and bran. In this state it can be boiled and used like rice, or added to stews, broths or soups. You can even serve it cold in a salad. This 16 oz. Bag of kosher gefen pearl barley will yield about fourteen 1/4 cup servings.

Instructions:
Dried beans are a natural food and should be cleaned like any other vegetable. Sort out any unwanted material and rinse well.;for areas with hard water, which may lengthen cooking time, add 1/8 tsp of baking soda per pound of beans or use bottled water.
Cooking Instructions:
Preparation instructions dry beans may be soaked to reduce cooking time. Place beans in a large deep pot. Add clean water to cover beans by at least 2". Soak beans (methods indicated below). Drain and discard soaking water before cooking. Overnight cold soak: let beans and water stand overnight in fridge or at room temperature for at least 6 hours. Quick hot soak: bring the pot of beans and water to a boil. Boil for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let it stand for at least 1 hour.
