If you’ve paid attention to any health trends in the last decade, we’re sure that you’ve heard the term “superfood.”
But, what exactly is a superfood? And, what makes superfoods so super?
Today we’re going to look at why certain foods are worthy of such a title as well as recommend a few superfoods you can add into your daily menu for optimal health.

Before we begin, it’s important to define what a superfood is.
According to the dictionary, a superfood is “a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being.”
For this reason, in order to be considered nutrient-rich, food items have to contain a minimum level of...
- Antioxidants.
- Polyphenols.
- Vitamins.
- Minerals.
If a food has been proven to contain enough nutritional value, it is deemed as a superfood.
The Superfood Myth...
Before we share some of our favorite superfoods with you, we want to be very transparent about the benefits of superfoods and clarify what they can and can’t do for your body.
Why?
Because, sadly, many mainstream companies have used the popular buzzword to untruthfully sell products and encourage people to jump into unhealthy dieting trends.
We want you to know that superfoods aren’t a magical health pill. Consuming excessive amounts of them will not make you thinner or supernaturally cure your illness/disease.
Before you jump onto any health trend bandwagons, it’s so important to do your research to ensure what you’re putting into your body is truly beneficial. It’s also important to understand that a healthy lifestyle involves more than simply eating nutrient-rich foods.
While we know superfoods aren’t a cure-all, it is true that they provide your body with lots of nutrients, which is why it's important to include them in your daily meal plan.
